Some legends have teeth - meet The Bunyip

Some time ago we told you about the crowdfunded horror movie being shot featuring another iconic cryptid, the Bunyip.

The storyline goes thus: When a team-building hike strays into the territory of an unknown Australian predator, this group of tech-savvy, thrill seeking city folk will discover that some legends have teeth...

Movie trailer for The Hunter released

Remember a while back we reported on the filming of The Hunter in Tasmania?

Well the film can't be too far away, with the trailer recently released (see below).

The story of The Hunter follows the deadly search for the fabled, and perhaps extinct, Tasmanian Tiger aka the Thylacine.

A mysterious man who is identified to the reader only as M assumes the identity of “Martin David, naturalist” and arrives at the filthy, disheveled house of depressed Lucy Armstrong, whose husband, Jarrah, a naturalist and bioethics expert, recently disappeared on the plateau. Lucy’s home becomes the base for M’s treks into the wilderness, ostensibly to study the habits of Tasmanian devils.

Black Panther cameos in Red Hill

Red Hill is the name of a new Australian thriller that has just hit local cinemas (and no doubt other parts of the world).

So what possible crypto reference could be contained in an antipodean western set in an Outback town with gun-slinging Australian policemen and escaped convicts hellbent on revenge?

Enter the black panther!

Ryan Kwanten's character is a city policeman looking for a quieter life in the country, but his move to Red Hill gets off to a strange start with reports of a mystery animal spooking horses and killing and eating cattle.

We won't say anymore about the film other than it looks like a decent action flick. This is also the first time since novelist Tim Winton's book In the Winter Dark was made into a film that we've seen a big cat reference hit the mainstream Down Under (forget the fact it has nothing to do with the main storyline!).
